The goals of Emerald Coast Sleep are to provide comprehensive sleep assessment, treatment, and management services for patients presenting with complaints of sleeping problems. Plans of treatment for sleep disorders will be decided in collaboration with the attending nurse practitioner and the child / family. A physician sleep specialist will be consulted, if needed.
A comprehensive approach, with emphasis on sleep health and wellness, will be employed for each patient. Methods used to address sleep issues will include education regarding sleep hygiene, sleep training, cognitive behavioral therapy, applied behavioral analysis techniques, medication, and use of devices to assist with breathing, when needed. If appropriate, referrals will be made to sub-specialists to include ear, nose, and throat surgeons, neurosurgeons, pulmonologists, and others.
Sleep studies can be arranged at a lab designed specifically to meet the needs of young patients. Staff will be employed with specific training in meeting the needs of pediatric patients and the interpretation of pediatric sleep data. Sleep study interpretation will be provided by a physician board certified in sleep medicine.
